Wet Soil in Every Shoe

On Threads, a revenge list against a cheating boyfriend circulated — vulgar at a glance, yet structurally interesting as folklore.

Headline image: put a little wet soil in every shoe. The list continues — ketchup on a cutter left out, TV volume maxed, bath heater at minimum, all bulbs removed, sugar and salt swapped, all clothes and underwear turned inside out, underwear shaken in a bag with chili powder, heaps of kusaya, shirt buttons glued so they will not open.

Ridiculous — yet well made. Not violence, not public exposure, not SNS shaming. It slowly breaks the texture of daily life. Wet shoes, cold bath, no light, salt in coffee, buttons that will not open — each item small; stacked, the home tilts slightly untrustworthy.

Home is supposed to be reassurance; here it becomes a small trap. Objects that usually support — shoes, clothes, bath, sugar — when anger enters become containers of discomfort, wrongness, betrayal of expected sweetness. Close to magic: touch the life-zone not the body, hide small anomalies, shift object meaning, derange daily order.

Funny perhaps because anger stays domestic in scale — wet soil, glued buttons, cold bath, salt not sugar. Human grudges sometimes live in the entryway and kitchen.
