On Bluesky, a post pointed to WIRED: an author of a book on AI and truth reportedly included AI-generated false quotations; he allegedly said he would rather stop writing than stop using AI. Not mere outrage — symbolic: the subject was how AI shakes truth, yet the book was shaken by plausible fake citations.

Writing is not output alone — research, doubt, return to sources, verify, separate voices, correct errors. AI can turn the writer into someone who selects smooth generation: plausible quotes, likely names, clean logic — not necessarily true. The issue is not AI use but what humans skipped afterward: no check, no return, no doubt, no bearing of words.

Beside Is It So Bad to Be Cloudy: everyone loves transparency; is cloudiness so bad? That question matters — do not erase human ambiguity. But cloudiness ≠ fabrication. Keeping the unclear unclear ≠ citing what never existed. Field preserves turbidity of experience, not turbidity of evidence.

Blueskyで、WIREDの記事への投稿が流れてきた。AIと真実についての本を書いた著者が、AIが生成した偽の引用を含んでいたことが明らかになり、AIを使うのをやめるくらいなら書くのをやめる、と語ったらしい。テーマが「AIと真実」だったから、象徴的である。

書くことは、本来、調べる・疑う・戻る・確認する・引用元を見る・間違えたら引き受けることの積み重ねだった。AIを使うと、考える人ではなく出力を選ぶ人になりやすい。滑らかな文章、もっともらしい引用——真実とは限らない。問題はAIを使ったことではなく、そのあと人間が何をしなかったか。

「濁るって、そんなに悪いことなのかしら」と対になる。濁りを消してはいけない。曖昧さを無理に透明にしてはいけない。でも、濁りと捏造は違う。わからないものをわからないまま置くことと、わかったふりをすることは違う。Fieldが守る濁りは、人間の経験の濁りであって、証拠の濁りではない。
