Maybe Dad Is a Cat

On Threads, children's poems circulated — small verses from a newspaper-like column. One child, seeing a father's beard on his cheek, wrote that he might be a little cat. Not metaphor imposed from outside: the father has a beard on his cheek; cats have whiskers; therefore the father may be somewhat cat. That way of seeing the world is already poetry.

Another poem recorded a parental quarrel. Father and mother do not speak. Mother gives father old rice. The child does not over-explain — only what was seen.
