On Mastodon, a short War and Peas comic circulated. A witch-like figure flies through the sky; another rides behind. The rider thanks them. The flyer says: you can fly on your own, can't you? They can. But they like being carried.
The comic's strength is quiet. Not asking because they cannot — asking because they can, yet prefer to rely. Not riding because they cannot go alone — riding because they like the other's steering, their back, that time together. Dependence is not always a mark of inability.
Human relationships hold actions ability alone cannot explain: doing together what you could do alone; going together though you could go alone; wanting a voice though you're fine; flying yet wanting a ride. Not mere indulgence — trust enough to lend the body. In AI-era context: humans do not move only for convenience or shortest path; sometimes they share what they could do alone. Outside efficiency, relation remains.

Mastodonで、War and Peasの短い漫画が流れてきた。魔女のような人物が、空を飛んでいる。その後ろに、別の人物が乗っている。乗せてもらっている側は、礼を言う。すると、運転している側が言う。あなた、自分で飛べるでしょ。たしかに飛べる。でも、乗せてもらうのが好きなのだ。
この漫画のよさは、そこにある。できないから頼るのではない。できるけれど、頼る。自分で行けないから乗るのではない。相手が運転してくれること、その背中にいること、その時間が好きだから乗る。依存は、いつも不能のしるしではない。
人間関係には、能力だけでは説明できない行動がある。自分でできるのに、してもらう。ひとりで行けるのに、一緒に行く。大丈夫なのに、声をかけてもらいたい。飛べるのに、乗せてほしい。それは甘えかもしれない。でも、甘えという言葉だけでは足りない。そこには、相手を信頼して身体を預ける感覚がある。
AI時代の文脈で見るなら、人間は便利さだけで動いているわけではない。最短距離だけを選ぶわけでもない。自分でできることを、あえて他者と分け合うことがある。効率の外側に、関係がある。この漫画は、そのことをとても短く描いている。
