A Bluesky post shows an anti-AI datacentre protest: handwritten signs, direct refusal — WE DON'T WANT THIS. The observatory does not rehost the photograph. What we record is AI leaving the screen.
Field Notes until now tracked generated surfaces: images, music, video, fake news; human responses like No-AI badges and AI prose irritation; institutional moves like Spotify remix tools and clinical decision support. This note marks the physical layer: AI as infrastructure — electricity, water, locality, a building people march against.
The signs do not explain policy. They refuse. That simplicity is folkloric: when AI descends into the lived world, argument may shrink to a slogan on cardboard. The folk pattern is AI infrastructure → local refusal. You do not debate a model; you reject what it requires from your place.
