On Bluesky, a writer announces a nearly 100,000-word novel written through "brain-only" labor — no AI shortcuts, no detours. The post is not asking for praise. It is issuing a credential.
In the AI era, authorship can become a badge again. Not copyright alone, not platform metrics, but endurance: I did not outsource the sentence. The declaration travels into craft communities too, where handmade spaces argue that generative AI contaminates trust between maker, material, and buyer.
This folklore is not anti-technology in the abstract. It is boundary work. Human-made identity appears when automation becomes default enough that refusal must be spoken aloud.
The pattern is No-AI labor → authorship identity. The observatory records it as testimony and boundary dispute together: a writer's badge, a crafter's line, the same impulse to keep creative labor legible as human.
