On Mastodon, a user asks Google's music generation to turn "ray ping" into phonk. The request is deliberately stupid. The output is treated as comedy — not because the track is good, but because the system performs the prompt without irony.
This is AI-as-toy folklore. Not useless AI, not productivity AI, but a domestic game: see whether the machine will follow the spell even when the spell is nonsense.
The pattern is absurd prompt → machine compliance. It sits beside labor anxiety poems and ethics memes as a different register of AI-era culture: play without stakes, testing without belief.
Archives that only collect "beautiful" or "important" generations will miss this register. The observatory should record the joke formats too — how communities learn what AI will do when asked badly on purpose.
