AI discourse often praises efficiency — write faster, search faster, make faster, reply faster, summarize faster. But is finishing quickly always good? Chieng's core, per Harvard Gazette, does not reject AI in medicine or physics research. Do not use it to replace creativity and critical thinking — because creating is the fun part: thinking, hesitating, assembling, failing, finally shaping something. AI removes tedious work — but tedium may have been the meaning.

This is anti-over-efficiency more than anti-AI. Graduation matters: students step into society. Usually — master the future's tools, befriend AI. This speech turns elsewhere: do not give AI the fun part of your work; hold substance not shallow knowledge; choose mastery over faking it.

Humans do not live by efficiency alone. Inefficient repetition, the bother of doing it yourself, time spent thinking, failed attempts — meaning may lodge there later.
